Natural Language Processing (NLP) is the automatic analysis of human languages by computer algorithms. Unlike programming languages where the structure and meaning of programs is easy to encode, human languages provide an interesting challenge, both in terms of analysis and learning of language from observations.

Natural Language and Text Processing Laboratory at University of Tehran has been involved in the research in computational linguistics, focusing on language parsing, text mining, machine translation, word sense disambiguation, Spell and Grammar Checking, Summarization, and Statistical parsing, mainly on Persian language.

Interested in machines that can learn, understand and translate languages? We are always looking for talented graduate students. We also actively explore connections to industrial/commercial applications of our research.
