Internship Projects for Summer 2021

Social Networks Rumor/Fake News Detection Using Machine Learning (Dr. ShariatPanahi)

Due to widespread use of social networking platforms, misinformation spread in such networks has become a critical problem which cannot be handled manually. Thus, in this project we aim at investigating current methods proposed in literature to alleviate this problem automatically via Machine Learning

Application of Signal Processing to the Analysis of Financial Data (Dr. Akhavan)

Financiers usually employ two kinds of analysis, fundamental and technical, to find a suitable choice for investment. In the fundamental analysis, the intrinsic value of a company is evaluated based on external events and influences, as well as financial statements. In the technical analysis, the investment opportunities are found by investigation of price trends and chart patterns. In this internship program, the focus is on the technical analysis of financial data. We learn how to deal with the economic data, and how we can employ signal processing techniques for analysis of financial data

Calculating the Entropy of Old and Middle Persian Languages (Dr. Sabbaghian)

Upon successful completion of this project, you will learn the following approaches: N-grams, Shannon Entropy, Cover and King Scheme. You investigate how we can apply these methods to calculate the entropy of Old Persian language which was spoken during the Achaemenid era and Middle Persian which was spoken during the Sassanid dynasty

Neural Coding (Dr. Sabbaghian)

Upon successful completion of this project, you will learn about the neural coding, how it is related to telecommunications and how it can be formulated

Application of Signal Processing to the Vehicle Speed Measurement (Dr. Akhavan)

Analysis of the traffic data is an essential component for managing the entire traffic of a city. One of the most important elements of the traffic data is the speed of vehicles moving throughout the city. In this internship program, we practically learn how to remotely measure the speed of vehicles using a signal transmitter-receiver, and how we can employ signal processing techniques to estimate the vehicle speed

Intelligent Reflecting Surfaces (IRS) Simulation for 6G (Dr. ShariatPanahi

Using smart surfaces which can affect the wireless network propagation medium is one interesting proposal for 6G wireless networks. Due to the complex nature of problems in such scenarios, a promising approach to analyze them is using simulations. In this project we aim at constructing simulation frameworks for IRS implementation and gain insight from the simulation results

Smart Traffic Control (Dr. Sabbaghian)

Upon successful completion of this project, you will become familiar with well-known traffic simulators such as SUMO. You will perform a literature review and some simulations

Comparative Study for Telecommunications I course (Dr. Sabbaghian)

During this project, you accomplish a comparative study on Laboratories for Telecommunications I course offered in the best universities worldwide
