University of Tehran Joined the International Telecommunication Union (ITU)
The International Telecommunication Union, originally the International Telegraph Union is one of the oldest specialized agency of the United Nations (UN) that is responsible for issues that concern information and communication technologies. The ITU coordinates the shared global use of the radio spectrum, promotes international cooperation in assigning satellite orbits, works to improve telecommunication infrastructure in the developing world, and assists in the development and coordination of worldwide technical standards.
The ITU has several academic members around the world. Thanks to the efforts of Dr. Majid Nili Ahmadabadi, the dean of the ECE Department, University of Tehran has recently joined the ITU. University of Tehran is the second university in Iran that have joined the ITU. Dr. Leila Yousefi, an Assistant Professor of the ECE department, has been selected as the representative of University of Tehran, in this union.
