Recently resting-state fMRI has emerged as a powerful tool to investigate a variety of brain organizations and functions. Resting state MR images are taken when a subject is not performing any explicit task. As brain is not truly at rest and some networks identified in rs-fMRI are also present during task, some researchers offered the more accurate term of task-free fMRI. Spontaneous low frequency fluctuations (~0.01-0.1 HZ) of rs-fMRI time series are thought to have neuronal basis. During last years a growing body of studies has focused on rs-fMRI as a biomarker for measuring altered connectivity in some neurologic and psychiatric brain disorders like Alzheimer's disease, depressio and so on. Our current researches in this laboratory are mainly focused on developing more accurate and efficient mathematical tools to analyze resting-state functional connectivity.
