Kosar Shakori from the Vice-Presidency for Research and Technology News Desk of the University of Tehran:
Dr.Shamseddin Mohajerzadeh, a full professor at the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Tehran, reviewed the latest research achievements in advanced technology fields, including flexible displays and nanotechnology.Recalling his research activities spanning over the past two decades in flexible displays, Dr. Mohajerzadeh stated:
"About 20 to 25 years ago, our research team in Iran succeeded in producing innovative light-emitting diodes using silicon-on-glass, which received extensive international recognition in scientific circles."
He also emphasized the need for greater support for technological infrastructure in the country, citing the limitations in maintaining specialized equipment.
In another part of his speech, he addressed new research in the field of nanotechnology and said: "Our studies on carbon nanotubes, phosphorene, MoS₂ , graphene, and TiS₂ have led to the publication of several articles in reputable scientific journals." According to him, this research has placed a special focus on improving the electronic and optical properties of two-dimensional materials.
Dr. Mohajerzadeh also announced the implementation of a research project in the area of COVID-19 treatment, adding: "In the initial years of the Corona pandemic, this project utilized specialized mouse models to investigate the effects of drugs, costing over 500 million Tomans. Initial results showed a significant reduction in lung inflammation, although high costs and technical challenges made the continuation of the work difficult."
Finally, referring to the changes in the scientific environment post-COVID, he clarified:
"After the COVID-19 pandemic, students' interest in experimental research has decreased, and many prefer to work remotely. This trend may impact the quality of university education and research in the future."
